The Homeplace Vineyard offers three dry red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chambourcin, and Cabernet Franc. The Chambourcin won a bronze medal in Virginia's annual Governor's Cup Competition in 2012 and a silver medal in the 2016 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. This delicious wine has a spicy taste so that it pairs well with barbeque or Italian foods. We have created a sweet blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chambourcin that we call Old Red Tractor, which teases the palette with a hint of cherry. Our Sweet Red Combine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chambourcin, and Traminette. It tastes better than jelly on a biscuit!
The Homeplace Vineyard offers two dry white wines, Viognier and Vidal Blanc. Our Viognier, a favorite of many of our friends, has a buttery, creamy mouthful with delicious pear notes and a light tasty oak finish. It received bronze medals in the 2014 and 2016 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. The Vidal Blanc, with its hints of pineapple and grapefruit, earned a GOLD (woo hoo!!) at the 2016 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. We also have a sweet Traminette, a variety similar to Reisling, which earned a bronze medal in the 2015 Virginia Governor's Cup Competition. Our most popular white is Old Green Tractor, a blend of Viognier and Traminette, with Granny Smith apple on the palette and a crisp, clean finish, perfect for porch sipping! The Old Green Tractor won a bronze medal at the 2013 Virginia Governor's Cup Competition.
The Cabin Sunset is a hit here at The Homeplace Vineyard! You will love this delectable 100% strawberry wine, just like biting into a sweet, juicy strawberry right from the patch. But don't just take our word for it. The Cabin Sunset has won many awards: 2013 Wines of the South (Bronze), 2013 Virginia Governor's Cup Wine (Silver); 2014 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition (Silver); 2014 Virginia Governor's Cup Wine (Bronze); and 2015 Virginia Governor's Cup (Silver). We often use the Cabin Sunset in The Homeplace Vineyard Sangria. It's a party in your mouth!
